Matthew Canner has been at Performics @ Starcom for six years. As Business Director, he leads and mentors a team of 22 and has vertical expertise across entertainment, retail, technology and travel.
In the past 12 months Canner has led all automation across Performics Search, including the creation of scripts for the whole agency, which has collectively saved the team many hours – time that was previously spent across manual optimisation.
Canner has also demonstrated product innovation and initiative, driving improvements in best practice and adoption across Starcom search practitioners in conjunction with Google. This enables mass adoption of new products such as Broad Match, Dynamic Search Ads and Optiscore accruals. He works closely with Google to lead the agency relationship, which has seen Performics appointed as a senior partner.
He has also spearheaded a number of new business wins, including Ancestry and insurance company abrdn and has helped drive significant conversion growth across mature accounts. He has overseen more than 15 promotions within his teams over the past six years, developing the future of search marketing.
Judges said Canner demonstrated all-round expertise, and that he goes the extra mile to drive innovation in his field. They also praised the fact that he has shown great leadership skills in an environment that is facing challenging talent shortages.
