Performance marketing people: YouTube's CEO steps down and Boots' CMO appointed chair of AA's Front Foot network

In the latest round-up of industry moves, Wavemaker makes changes to its UK and France operations, Kisseterra appoints a new CEO and Asana hires a former Facebook product marketer.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki is stepping down after nine years in the role and the platform’s longtime Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan will take over. Wojkicki and Mohan have spent the last 15 years working together, initially at Google prior to YouTube. Wojcicki is moving on to focus on her health, family and personal projects but will join Google and its parent Alphabet in an advisory position.

Pete Markey, Chief Marketing Officer at Boots, has been appointed the new Chair of the Advertising Association’s network of advertisers, media owners, agencies and tech companies, Front Foot. Markey has been the CMO of Boots since 2021 and has been the recipient of four ‘Marketer of the Year’ awards He is also the current Executive Sponsor for Walgreens Boots Alliance’s Pride Alliance (LGBT+) business resource group in the UK.

Work management platform Asana has hired Shannon Sullivan Duffy as its new Chief Marketing Officer to help drive enterprise growth. With over twenty years’ experience, Sullivan Duffy has held previous positions at Facebook, Jigsaw, and SourceForge. Most recently, she worked as EVP Cloud & Industry Marketing at Salesforce.

Wavemaker France has committed to reinvigorating the agency after its CEO of 13 years, Jean Philippe Bertaux, announced he is stepping down. Effective immediately, two former Managing Directors, Julien Boyer and Roch Osenda, will step up and share the position to lead Wavemaker France into a new era.

Insurance marketing operating system Kissterra has announced that industry veteran Udi Ziv will become its Chief Executive Operator. Ziv joins after serving as CEO of Earnix, a real-time AI-driven enterprise pricing and rating engine for insurance and banking, and has held previous positions as CEO of Pontis and President of NICE.

Scibids, a digital marketing agency specialising in AI, has appointed Mark Dunckley as its Senior Sales Director. Before joining Scibids, Dunckley led on sales of Ad-Lib.io’s creative management platform, now part of Smartly.io, and also held previous commercial roles at Adobe, Amazon and AOL.

Wavemaker UK has promoted its Chief Investment Officer, Ian Stevens, to its Executive Committee. Stevens has been with the agency since 2006 and CIO since 2020. The promotion is designed to more closely integrate client media investment strategies with cross-channel planning.

A new Head of Video has also been appointed by Wavemaker UK, with Thinkbox and The Specialist Works alum, Sam Olive, to take on the role as part of the expansion of the agency’s video planning team. He will report to General Manager and video planning team leader, Emma Moorhead.

As reported in our sister publication Campaign, Pride in London, the LGBT+ festival, has announced that TMW Unlimited’s Head of Data and Insight, Tim Noblett, has been appointed to the organisation’s board as Head of Marketing.

Following high levels of growth in its affiliate marketing and CRM marketing businesses in the past 12 months, DMi Partners has announced the expansion of its leadership team with four internal promotions. Kristina Nolan is now VP of Media Services, Brian McKenna is VP of CRM, Kevin Dugan has risen to VP of Analytics and Marketing and Zach Labenburg has become VP of Growth. DMi Partners saw its total revenue grow by 36% in 2022 and is committed to further expansion as the year goes on.

In line with its plans to double in size by the end of 2023, SmartFrame Technologies, a UK-based SaaS technology provider, has appointed Jennifer Clements as its new Global Publishing Director. With extensive experience in the publishing industry, Clements most recently served as Commercial Director of Parenting at Immediate Media Co.

Anne Stagg, CEO of Merkle UK&I, a technology-enabled, data-driven customer experience management company owned by dentsu, has announced three new appointments as part of a company restructure following double-digit growth in 2022.

Clare Morgan has been promoted to Chief Client Officer, having led the UK client services team across Data and Martech for the past six years. Mark Jones, former VP of Client Services, has been promoted to Chief Growth Officer and Stephen Derbyshire will move into the role of Chief Solutions Officer.

Kate Hamilton, Vice President of Marketing at Proxymity, has been appointed to the Data and Marketing Association’s (DMA UK) Board of Directors as a Learning Fellow. Hamilton has been an advocate for learning and marketing best practice for over 30 years and is a previous DMA Awards Grand Prix winner. She is also a former Board Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

As reported in our sister publication Campaign, Havas Media Group has made two internal promotions to newly created positions to bolster its senior leadership team. Simon Bevan, who has spent half a decade as the company’s Chief Investment Officer, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer while Lizzie Nolan is the agency’s new Chief Technology Officer after holding her current position as EVP Managing Director of Strategy and Insights for three years.
