Performance marketing people: Coca-Cola gives generative AI a leadership face and Volvo hires former L’Oréal US marketing lead to surge growth online

PMW’s latest round-up of industry movers sees new leaders at Carat India, iProspect, Revolut and streaming service NOW.

The Coca-Cola Company’s former Global Head of Creative Strategy and Content, Pratik Thakar, has been promoted as Global Head of Generative AI in its Marketing Transformation Office. Coca-Cola’s foray into AI has been well-documented, recently with its ‘Masterpiece’ campaign that showcased iconic art pieces through AI technology. Thakar has held a number of senior leadership positions at the company over his tenure of more than 10 years, including Director of Integrated Marketing Communications at its ASEAN Business Unit. He was also the Asia Pacific Chairman of the World Federation of Advertising’s CMO Forum until August 2022, and prior to Coca-Cola he held senior roles at Grey Group and McCann.

Financial app Revolut has appointed Inam Mahmood as its Head of Global LIfestyle Solutions, alongside its launch of new ad solutions to push into e-commerce and advertising connections for brands. Mahmood will lead on the launch of Revolut’s foray into advertising and is charged with growing the e-commerce business. He was previously TikTok’s first commercial hire in EMEA.

Volvo Cars has recruited Gretchen Saegh-Fleming to head up its global marketing team. She will be responsible for continuing the automotive brand’s growth and will also play a key role in supporting its move to online business. She was most recently Chief Commercial Officer at connected fitness company Hydrow, having spent eight years in senior roles at L’Oréal, most recently leading the cosmetic giant’s US marketing.

Carat India, the media agency within dentsu, has appointed Sanchayeeta Verma as CEO. Verma will be based in Bangalore and will be responsible for boosting the agency's growth. She brings a 27-year stretch of experience in advertising, media and marketing, with previous senior roles at Mindshare and Wavemaker.

Another dentsu stablemate, iProspect, has promoted Shae Healey to Group Digital Director as part of an expansion to the agency’s NSW leadership team. Healey joined iProspect in 2019 as Client Manager before a promotion to Client Director two years later.

Impact Plus, a solution provider focused on enabling brands, agencies and adtech companies to reduce their digital carbon footprint has named Lucy Zakrzewska as its Senior Director for Publisher and Adtech Partnerships. Zakrzewska was previously Head of Sustainability and Senior Director, Supply at Azerion, having held prior roles at Sublime and Collective Europe.

Nuria Garcia is Virgin Experience Days’ new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Garcia was previously Interim CEO at Thirdfort, after more than seven years at World Remit where she rose through the ranks to CMO.

Streaming service NOW (formerly NOW TV) has promoted its Commercial Director Jacob Bridges to Managing Director. Prior to NOW, Bridges was Director, Pricing, Commercial Design and Evolution at Virgin Media O2 and has also held senior roles at Amazon and EE.

Andrew Lopez has been promoted as UK Head of Strategy at Weber Shandwick. Lopez joined Weber Shandwick in April 2022 as SVP Brand Strategy after a nine-year stint at Ogilvy PR as Head of Strategy.
