Performance marketing people: Target veteran named retail giant’s marketing chief and new CMO faces for AWS, Dutch Bros and Island Pacific Supermarket

PMW’s latest round-up of industry movers includes promotions at Decathlon Hong Kong and Initiative, while Apparel Group India and The Raja Group welcome new marketing leaders.

US retail giant Target has appointed Lisa Roath, a company veteran with 17 years’ service to the role of Vice President and Chief Marketing Office (CMO). Roath will lead Target’s core functions, including paid media, social media, guest marketing strategy, retail brand experience, creative and marketing strategy and operations. Roath previously served as Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage Merchandising, but has held a variety of leadership roles at the retailer.

Raejeanne Skillern has been appointed as Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) new VP and CMO. Prior to joining AWS Skillern was President of the Communications and Enterprise Compute at Flex, after a stint at Intel lasting more than 12 years.

Fitness brand Decathlon Hong Kong has promoted Matthew Li to Head of Brand and Marketing. Li joined Decathlon Hong Kong at the start of 2022 as Digital Marketing Manager. Prior to that Li spent three and a half years at cosmetics brand Shiseido, most recently as Assistant Manager, Omnichannel Strategy and Innovation, and has also worked at Nielsen and Mindshare.

Roblox has promoted Christina Wootton to Chief Partnerships Officer at Roblox to lead all partnerships, including education and business development. Wootton joined Roblox in 2014, prior to which she was West Coast Sales Director at Stardoll Media.

Packaging distributor and reseller of office supplies The Raja Group has named Franck Chenet as its new Group Marketing Director. In the newly created role, Chenet will be responsible for the company’s multi-channel strategies, customer experience, raising the profile of the Raja brand, and increasing alignment to cross-functional marketing teams at the international level. Chenet has held sales and marketing management roles at B2B services company Fiducial Group, cosmetics start-up Skinjay, as Managing Director, and Antalis, where he was responsible for among other things, digital transformation.

Christine Peebles is joining Filipino-American grocery chain Island Pacific Supermarket as its CMO. Peebles has previously worked with companies such as Nestle, PepsiCo and The Hershey Company and was CMO at Me & My Ideas.

US coffee chain Dutch Bros has appointed Tana Davila as its new CMO. Davila has worked within the foodservice industry for more than 10 years, most recently as CMO of CKE Restaurant Holdings.

Global fintech Gresham Technologies has hired Geneva Loader as CMO. Loader has previously held roles at Bain & Company, WPP and Omnicom Media Group.

Videoslots has appointed Marco Trucco as CMO. Trucco was previously Europe MD at GG Poker and Associate Director (International Marketing) at The Stars Group.

Accounting platform Dext has named Emily Westgate as its new CMO. Westgate has spent more than 20 years in the industry most recently as CMO of Signal AI and with previous marketing roles at Toshiba, Oracle and adtech provider Criteo.

Creative and performance marketing agency, TrunkBBI, has appointed a new senior leadership team. Joining Founder and CEO Jon Butler is the agency’s former Managing Director Adam Britton, who becomes Chief Creative Officer, while the Managing Director role will be assumed by former Client Services Director Hannah Evison. Tim Butler, who has been with TrunkBBI for 12 years becomes Operations Director.

Supply chain management solutions provider Kinaxis has appointed Margaret Franco and CMO to lead the marketing operations, including advertising and brand strategy, marketing communications, product and solution marketing, digital marketing, demand generation and business development. Franco was previously chief marketing officer at Finastra and before that held senior marketing roles at Dell over 13 years.

IPG’s Initiative has promoted Nicole Kelly to Global Managing Partner and Chief Growth Officer. Before Initiative, Kelly was Global Growth Partner at Wavemaker and Business Director at MediaCom.

Sneha Mahant Mehta is fashion and lifestyle giant Apparel Group India’s new Head of Marketing, with her remit spanning brands including Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Charles & Keith and Aldo. Prior to the new role Mahant Mehta had held Advertising Director roles at both Vogue and GQ.
